Herbal Preparations for Beginners: Liquid Extracts is an entry-level herbalism class to teach the basics of liquid plant extractions. Together, we will learn about both alcohol and non-alcohol based extractions. Learn the basics of formulating and crafting teas, infusions, decoctions, tinctures, glycerites, and oxymels! Students will get to formulate, craft, and take home their very own tincture! (or N/A extract),
Topics we will cover in this class include:
Plant sourcing, preparation, and preservation: making potent, shelf stable extracts
When + why + how to use different types of extracts: plant constituents & solubility, basic indications for different types of plant medicine
